UCIC Company was established in 1925 in the center of Asti, from an idea of Aldo Pronzato: coloured earths, oxides, anilines for the narrow local market, have been the strong basis on which the Company started to build its own corporate identity in the first postwar period.
In 1938 the Company changes its headquarters and moves to Strada Valmanera.
In the ‘50s, Aldo’s sons, Sergio and Giorgio, entered into business with him. The first one fond of Business Organization, the second one devoted to Chemical Formulation.
It’s the turning point: thanks to several products very innovative for that period, as the TOTOCOLOR universal colorant or the TEMPEX water-based acrylic paint for outdoors, UCIC Company widens its sales to whole Italy and abroad, and reaches an important position in its field within only a few years.
Even in far 1955, in its chemical laboratory, the first range of fluorescent and phosphorescent colours had been developed: LUMEN.
Since 1970 UCIC was the first Italian Company which used acrylic resins in the formulation of nearly all its water-based colours and 1978 completely replaced the solvent-based products formulation and the conventional white spirit (16-18% aromatics) with dearomatised white spirit (max 0.1% aromatics!).
In the same period, all the pigments containing lead (chromates and molybdates) and lead dryers were totally replaced in order to obtain the best results for solvent-based products, in full obedience of the environment.
In the ‘90s also the third generation joined UCIC: the Company works now in a very modern and flexible way in different fields.
Thanks to a continuous research of finest raw materials and the utmost attention to formulation of innovative products, UCIC is quite different from other traditional colour manufacturers.
Products for the building field are constantly manufactured, as well as big attention is paid to the decorative field, where glazes, textured paints and plasters, mixed with our metallescent or pearlescent colours, are used inside houses with charming, in order to meet everybody’s requirements.
In 2008, the trade mark CASAITALIA was created for the Decorative line.
In 2008 as well, the Professional line TECHNOVA was introduced and the tintometric system COLORDREAM has been implemented.
A technologically advanced research laboratory, well-tested formulations, strictly controlled production processes, an effective custom-oriented trading organization are the components of a very modern company ready to face the challenges of the second millennium.
